Juvederm & Restylane
Juvederm and Restylane are the workhorses of filler products. They are all Hyaluronic Acids (HA) made by different companies and represent a family of products. Properties are very similar but with slight differences that may call for one product or the other depending on patient characteristics and site of injection.
All require local anesthetic, either in the product itself (Juvederm XC, Restylane-L), or the tissues are first anesthetized and then injected with the product. There are pros and cons of each option.
HAs can last up to 12 months depending on site injected. HAs work very well for the nasolabial folds (smile lines) and marionette lines. We use them frequently to increase volume in the cheeks, tear troughs (dark lower lid circles) and the hollows in front of the jowls.
