Sculptra
This is the same product which was used for facial fill in patients with HIV. It is now approved for cosmetic use.
Sculptra has made a resurgence recently as experience has shown better ways to use it. Sculptra is not a true filler; rather, it stimulates your own collagen production. It is made of polylactic acid and requires multiple injections. Typically, injections are performed one month apart for 3-6 sessions. It takes 1-2 months to begin to see results and continues over many months. Once results are achieved it can last 2 years. The advantage of Sculptra is a more diffuse fill and volume enhancement. It is not used around the lips or eyelids due to risk of nodule formation.
