Ablative CO2 Laser

Traditional ablative CO2 laser has been used for many years but has become less popular over time. It is a technique that removes the superficial layers of the skin via thousands of laser pulses. Because it completely removes the superficial layers of the skin, it is considered ‘ablative’. It stimulates collagen remodeling by heating the deeper layers of skin. Treatment can be individualized, varying the depth of treatment, downtime and expected result.

The deeper the penetration, the greater the improvement in wrinkling. However, downtime will be longer and the risk of hypopigmentation (lightening) of the skin and risk of visible lines of demarcation between treated and untreated skin is greater. We use Ultrapulse ablative CO2 for resurfacing of the eyelids.
